Hi everyone,
I haven't posted on here for awhile, so I thought it's about time to share some dating stories again, since I've gotten a few lately. If you don't read the first two, make sure you read the last!!
JJ - I had a crush on this guy I knew from my last deployment before I came out to DC. He knew it, but waited until I had already arrived in DC to tell me that he had a girlfriend. I didn't tell you I had a girlfriend? No, JJ, you had several opportunities to tell this obviously love-stricken girl that you were not interested, but instead you chose to string me along. JERK! I would be lying to say that the possibility of a date or two with him didn't influence my desire to move to DC as quickly as I did. As hard as it was to realize this when I first got here, thank God it didn't work out. He was definitely NOT the one for me, for many reasons.
Fred - This guy who was technically my supervisor/instructor during my Navy training kept making comments that I knew were basically hitting on me, but I chose to ignore them. He kept telling me that when the class was over we could be friends, hang out, go see a movie or something; that I was beautiful and had great eyes, blah, blah. He knew I was new to the area and thought he could be of "assistance"! :) So when the class was over, we ended up going to dinner. Not 15 minutes into dinner, he asks if he can do something he's been waiting to do and leans over to kiss me. I offer him my cheek and he says no, on the lips. I'm like, NO, I thought we were just hangin out here, I barely know you. Thinking: You are just a little forward!! So, the rest of dinner was just a little awkward, I tried to be polite but not let him know there was any possibility of this moving forward. He paid for dinner, making it a date. I accepted the free meal, I mean what was I supposed to do, push to pay for my meal when he obviously considered it a date? I'm not one to turn down free food!! Well, I thought he'd gotten the picture until we went home and he texts me, I can't wait until we hang out again, there's gonna be some good kisses! Obviously, didn't get my hints. So, I came flat out and told him I saw him as a friend, could he see me as a friend? He says he can, but I haven't felt comfortable hanging out with him again.
Byron - Finally, a really nice guy. I went out with him last week Monday AND Tuesday. And he didn't try to kiss me either time!! Met him through match.com. Strong Christian, is the worship leader at his church. He's also in the Navy and was deployed to Djibouti right before I went out there the first time. We had GREAT conversation and I like a lot of things about him. Unfortunately, he's on a Navy mission for the next month, so I have to wait till he comes back to see if this is going anywhere. To be continued...
Funny thing was, when Byron emailed me, dating, or even my lack of dating, was truly the farthest thing from my mind. So, if things do work out with him, it will be true that I found love when I wasn't looking. We'll see.
I am sitting down comfortably reading a newspaper at the bus stop, not nearly as concerned about the destination as I usually am. Thank you God for this peace!!
